Editorial Assistant

The Mille Lacs Messenger in Isle, is seeking an editorial assistant to help with tasks associated with weekly community newspaper production and content development.

This hourly position involves page layout, online posts and working with social media to drive traffic to the newspaper’s online site.

The ideal candidate should be proficient with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, but not necessary to apply. This position also includes periodic work covering community events and news stories as well as compiling news stories and related copy; experience in journalism is helpful but not required.

The successful candidate must be flexible, attentive to details, diplomatic, able to accept direction, and able to multi-task. This position works with multiple newspaper departments.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Google Docs is helpful along with social media such as Facebook and Twitter.
