FIRST HALF • CURRENT REAL ESTATE TAXES ARE NOW DUE • PAYMENTS THAT ARE MAILED MUST BE POSTMARKED • NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, MAY 15th TO AVOID PENALTY
The Itasca County courthouse will be open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, May 13
through May 15
for payment of property taxes only. You may experience a significant wait as we will be minimally staffed. There is a drop box outside the Treasurer’s window that will be available on these dates as well. Please respect the 6 food distancing rules set up by the CDC and the Governor’s directives. We highly recommend mailing your payments to the Treasurer’s office at 123 NE 4
St., Grand Rapids, MN 55744. Please make sure your payments are postmarked by 5/15/20.
If your business has been shuttered by the Governor’s order or otherwise directly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, or if you have been laid off and are collecting unemployment, or if you have any type of economic hardship due to the Coronavirus that prohibits you from paying your 1
half property tax bill by the 5/15/20 deadline, you may be eligible for an abatement of late payment penalties. You can download the abatement application form on the Itasca County website and then go to the Auditor/ Treasurer department for the application form. Complete the form and return it to our office at email@example.com. We will process your application to determine if you qualify for an abatement and, if you qualify, you will receive a prompt reply from someone in our Treasurer’s department to schedule a future payment.
