Position Summary: TheProductDevelopmentEngineer is responsible forsupporting the designand developmentof fasteners and associatedinstallation tooling forthe industrial market within their assigned area of responsibility. Position will supportthe ProductDevelopmentEngineering Team in accordancetwith the vision set forthnuthe ProductDevelopmentEngineering Team Leader.inaddition, they will assist the ProductDevelopmentEngineering Team Leader with varying tasks to aidthe Engineering departmentinmeeting all goals.The position will have afocus on (but no limited to)blind and structural rivets as well as internally and externally threaded fasteners. Essential Job Functions: • Member of across-functional ProductDevelopmentTeam responsible fordesigning,analyzing,and validating new fastener designs and enhancements to currentdesigns • Work with Applications Engineering Team to implementcustomer requirements into new product designs • Work with ProductDevelopmentEngineers to designand develop tooling designs and processes necessarytomanufacture new products • Develop acompetencyinthe Set-up Cold Forming machines and troubleshoot new product launches in the developmentprocess • Supporttransition on new parts from designtoproduction phase including supportofOperations and Qualityasrequired • Determine feasibility/risk assessments through the use of both practical and analytical methods (rapid prototyping,designstack ups,designstudies,DFMEA, testing plans,etc.)
• Provide supportfor continuous improvementactivities to imporveuponcurrent designs through the use of both practical and analytical tools • Create 2D drawings and 3D models using CADsoftware • Create and review engineering documentation and change requests • Effectively communicate status of activeprojects through weekly status reports and assuretiming metrics aremet forall deliverables • Attend Manufacturing handoff meetings to assureadequate designengineering supportis provided when applicable Skills and ExperienceRequired: • Bachelor’s degreeorequivalentexperienceinMechanical Engineering. • 2Dand 3D CADExperience • Knowledge of inspection and measuring equipmenttechniques. • Excellentcommunication skills and abilitytowork in across-functional team environment. • Projectmanagementskillswith emphasis on meeting deadlines. • Strong computer skills Preferred: • Metallurgical backround • 5+Years of experienceinCold Forming relateddesignand manufacture. • Expereienceinthe fastener field. • Knowledge in Cold Forming of Aluminum, Steel &Stainless steel wire • Experienceinaerospacematerials. • Strong knowledgeofManufacturing Operations. • Knowledge of mechanical designprinciples.
